After the Work Permit
Obtaining Permanent Residency(PR)
 

This is a points based system. Points are gained in the following 4 sections

  1. Qualifications
  2. Work experience
  3. Job offer or in employment.
  4. Age

Evidence of good health and character must also be provided as with the work permit.

Minimum standard of English ( No Points given Manditory to achieve above 6.5)

(a) A recent ELTS Certificate with an overall band score of 6.5 or above
(b) Evidence that you have spent at least 3 years attending an English speaking school
(c) Proof that you have been employed for 12 months in NZ in a role that requires you to speak English
(d) Other proof that you are a competent user of English

1. Qualifications

(a) A recognized basic qualification (e.g. trade qualification, bachelors degree or diploma
(b) A recognized post-graduate qualification

*We recommend that you have your overseas qualifications assessed by NZ qualifications Authority
(with the exception of English City & Guilds)

2. Work experience

Work experience - Points may be earned for every 2 years you spend working using your qualification both overseas or in NZ

3. Job offer or in employment.

Ideally this will be the job you secured to get the work permit. Or worst case senario is a similar job utilising the same skill set and qualifications. The safest bet is to stay in your original job untill you have completed your Permanent Residency application sucessfully.

4. Age

Age - You must be between 20 and 55 years old
