Steve has joined Autojobs as a recruiter bringing with him a skill set that embraces both the automotive and marine industries. A 10,000 hour apprenticeship served with Winstone's was Steve's entry to the motor industry. Working "hands on" for ten years he secured advanced trade certification with an emphasis on heavy equipment and marine engines. Service management was the next step – and Steve didn’t disappoint. As Service Manager at Motor Holdings [Agriculture] he accepted responsibility for the service welfare of tractors and associated equipment from a variety of source countries, remember the names ? – Zetor, Kubota, Landini, Vicon and Widget – Steve is adamant that Trekka was not included in his portfolio of that time. It is to his credit that he stayed in this hotseat for six years. Changing career path to sales and marketing Steve spent a couple of years with Sunbeam NZ prior to joining Lees Industries as Auckland Manager. In this position he was back into a learning curve that embraced the spectrum of products and services that the company was known for – be it construction equipment, forestry and agricultural equipment, repower solutions and, of course, marine. Steve’s success in this field didn’t go unnoticed – after a few years in this management role Steve was lured back to Motor Holdings Agriculture as National Sales Manager. This was a very demanding role, made harder by the market leading American manufacturers setting up shop in NZ and distributing directly. Frequently with big ticket budgets. Staying with the agricultural sales market for five years Steve missed his earlier involvement with the marine industry – so – taking a big breath – he joined Yachtfinders Global as a marine broker. This is one tough industry, not for the faint hearted and in his first year he almost drowned – in his second – he flew ! When considering his excellent career path it comes as no surprise that Steve is passionate about boating. Many weekends he is a fixture at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, never misses an opportunity to crew a boat, catch a snapper or help a mate rebuild a marine motor. Clearly Steve will make a strong contribution to the skill sets that Autojobs offers to it’s client base. He will be a valued team member, the more so if he arrives on Monday mornings with fresh snapper
